Panchkroshi Yatra
As per ancient traditions, a religious tour of Ujjain is one of the main tours in the panchkroshi yatra which is done in the month of Vaishakha (May-June). Out of the 84 Mahadev, 4 Mahadev are considered to be the door guardians of Ujjain, while Mahakal is considered to be their Kshetradhipati. In panchkroshi yatra, a sequential viewing of all these temples is conducted. During Simhastha, this takes on a very grand scale, when one can see the folk traditions of the Malwa region.
